Jungle Book

Amazon.com Review

P. Craig Russell is on track to be the first emissary of the classic gems of literature in the world of comics. His collaboration with Arabian Nights Neil Gaiman in The Sandman # 50, BD versions of Mozart's Magic Flute, and adaptations of fairy tales of Oscar Wilde are all proof of his extraordinary sensitivity and graphic narrative. His treatment of the last three chapters of The Jungle Book Kipling ("The King ankus", "Red Dog" and "Execution of Spring") was inspired by both fans and lovers of Kipling beautiful illustration. Russell is amazing composition: it has the ability to create harmony in a single page, as each panel sings its melody This collection also features enhanced color if reseparated reshot, and the results are delicious ..

Grade 4-8? The law of the jungle? The intense competition for your niche? Seems to apply to The Jungle Book, judging by the numerous editions pushed on the shelf of the bookseller. A hundred years of publication, the justification for this avatar, but fortunately it does not need excuses. All stories about Mowgli, and the eternal "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi," seems glorious party in an attractive format. A manageable size, creamy paper, a clear type and generous margins are as welcoming as the 17 full-page masterful watercolors. They are beautifully composed, balanced, but not static free can be handled without loss of clarity. Mowgli and the animals are characterized rather than idealized. Color and texture are subtle but lush. These contrasts perfectly complement the tension between order and the "jungle" generated in the text of Kipling. If the survival of the fittest does apply to the release, this version should have a long life.? Patricia (Dooley) Lothrop Green, St. George's School, Newport, RI
